Early Monday morning, August 17, the liberty movement and all of philanthropy lost a great friend with the passing of Whitney Ball.

Whitney had battled breast cancer for many years, never letting it distract from her passion for work or from fully enjoying life. In late July, her health took a dramatic turn for the worse, with her ultimately moving to hospice after a stay in the hospital. However, she regained enough strength to move home for the final few weeks of her life.

In an email to the DonorsTrust and Donors Capital Fund boards, Adam Meyerson, board chair of Donors Capital Fund, well captures the great admiration so many had for Whitney:

“She had many strong days in her last few weeks, and with her extraordinary heroism she talked frequently about the future of DonorsTrust…I know we all feel blessed to have worked closely with this remarkable woman of valor, entrepreneurial energy, principled leadership, loving kindness, and unstinting commitment to liberty.”

Over the past 15+ years, Whitney steadily built DonorsTrust from a single account into the strong, growing organization it is today. She had a true passion for protecting and preserving philanthropic intent. The staff and board at DonorsTrust are fully committed to building on the legacy she created: advancing liberty, preserving donor intent, and supporting a culture of philanthropy in America
